Dua Before Sleep

Arabic Dua

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya.

Translation: In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

Explanation

The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught this short dua to recite when going to bed. It acknowledges that life and death are in Allah's hands. Many Muslims also recite Ayatul Kursi and the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah before sleep for protection. The Prophet would also blow into his hands after reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, then wipe over his body.
